easyJet has announced passenger statistics for May 2001 featuring an increase in passengers carried of more than 11% but a drop in load factor.
Passengers carried during the month totalled 4,739,436 compared with 4,258,675 carried last May, an 11.3% increase. The load factor for the month was 84.1%, a fall of 1.7 percentage points from last May’s figure of 85.8%.
For the rolling 12 months ending 31 May 2011, the airline carried 52,942,007 passengers, compared with 47,246,447 carried in the 12 months which ended 31 May 2010, a 12.1% increase. The load factors for the respective periods were 87.0% and 86.7%.
easyJet’s says its load factor for the month ending 31 May 2010 was boosted by around 2 percentage points as a result of the repatriation of customers following the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. The load factor for May 2011 was in line with the 83.5% achieved in May 2009.
