easyJet launches London Stansted–Reykjavik service

easyJet has introduced a 24th route from London Stansted with new twice weekly flights to Reykjavik. The airline predicts the route is expected to be particularly popular amongst leisure passengers and is expecting to fly 12,000 passengers between the destinations annually.“We’re delighted to be adding a new route from London Stansted as we continue to offer new destinations for our passengers with the first flight to Reykjavik,” stated Dimitrios Schoinas, London route manager at easyJet. “There is a growing demand for short and long breaks in Iceland and we are able to make it convenient to reach both sides of the route and to provide value for British and Icelandic consumers.”The new route brings the number of services easyJet offer to and from Reykjavik to nine, with the airline set to operate flights in and out of the city 30 times a week this winter. Last year the carrier flew 350,000 passengers there last year.“Stansted is the UK’s fastest growing airport serving more than 22 million passengers a year and we’re determined to offer our passengers even more new destinations and services so we’re delighted easyJet has chosen Stansted to expand its services between London and Reykjavik,” continued Andrew Harrison, Stansted Airport’s managing director.Pictured: passengers are greeted at check-in with a replica easyJet Airbus A320 ice sculpture.
