easyJet has celebrated the launch of its new route between London Gatwick and Luxembourg, thus becoming the first low-fare airline to operate on the route.
easyJet’s first flight to Luxembourg was operated by an easyJet Luxembourger First Officer Michel Castellucci. The aircraft was greeted by a water cannon salute on arrival in the Grand Duchy.
"Luxembourg is a key commercial European centre and the latest business route served by easyJet from London Gatwick, further enhancing our network across Europe,” explained Paul Simmons, UK director for easyJet. “We believe that our services will be popular and will be able to meet the business demand expectations. More than 50,000 passengers are expected to fly on the route on the first year of operations. easyJet has proved again and again that when we enter a new market we open it up enabling more people to travel on the route. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board.”
The four times a week services will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
