Eastern Airways reintroduces Southampton–Leeds service

Eastern Airways is to expand its route network in the New Year to include services between Southampton and Leeds.

Leeds is an important route for Southampton Airport as it links two key commercial centres and also provides access for people from the north of England to the cruise ships that depart from Southampton to America, Europe, the Baltic and the Caribbean.

Eastern Airways will begin operations between Southampton and Leeds on 20 January 2014, running three daily services between Monday and Friday. In addition, it will also operate a Sunday afternoon service, providing flexibility for both business and leisure travellers and ensuring the continuation of air links between two of the UK’s major cities.

Weekday services will leave Southampton Airport at 08:20, 16:05 and 18:40 and depart from Leeds Bradford Airport at 06:50, 10:20 and 17:10, with flights conveniently timed to allow a full business day in both cities.

Jan Halliday, director of marketing and communications, commented, "We are delighted to welcome Eastern Airways back onto this key air link. Southampton is steeped in maritime history with a world class port for cruise liners and has strong business links with Yorkshire and the north of England, particularly in the finance, insurance, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, manufacturing and construction industries.”
