Eastern Airways has entered a codeshare and ticketing agreement with Azerbaijan Airlines.
Eastern operates more flights from Aberdeen than any other airline and in May 2011, Azerbaijan Airlines launched a twice-weekly service from Aberdeen to Baku on Tuesdays and Sundays. The new codeshare therefore enables Azerbaijan Airlines to offer onward connections to Norway with Eastern Airways and many UK cities that the airline links from Aberdeen.
Eastern Airways will also be able to sell flights to Baku from Aberdeen as part of the codeshare. There will also be connections from Baku for Aberdeen passengers heading to Aktau (Kazakhstan), Tbilisi (Georgia),Teheran (Iran) and Dubai.
Flights to Baku depart from Aberdeen at 12:00 and arrive at 21:30, all times being local. Services to Aberdeen leave Baku at 08:30, landing in the Scottish city at 10:40, again all times being local.
“This codeshare allows us to promote Baku as a destination on our Aberdeen network, highlighting to business travellers and oil and gas workers the ease of flying direct with our partner airline Azerbaijan Airlines,” explained Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director. “We also provide onward connections to Stavanger in Norway and a comprehensive network of domestic services from Aberdeen to benefit transiting passengers.”
Kamran Gajar, general manager UK for Azerbaijan Airlines, added, “With Eastern Airways operating a network of UK services and flights to Norway from Aberdeen, this codeshare will help to further develop our Aberdeen–Baku service.”
