December 2010 and full year traffic announced for US Airways regional subsidiaries

US Airways has reported traffic figures for its wholly-owned US Airways Express subsidiaries Piedmont Airlines and PSA Airlines covering December 2010 and for the whole of last year.

In December, revenue passenger miles (RPMs) totalled 185,456,000, compared with 160,485,000 in December 2009, a 15.6% increase. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 8.8% to 262,626,000 from 241,318,000 for the respective periods.

These figures created a load factor in December 2010 of 70.6%, up by 4.1 percentage points over December 2009’s figure of 66.5%. During the month the airlines carried 631,331 passengers, 5.1% more than the 600,633 carried in December 2009.

For the whole of 2010, Piedmont and PSA generated a combined RPM total of 2,216,723,000, a 4.2% increase on 2009’s 2,127,335,000. ASMs were cut by 0.5% to 3,111,316,000 from 3,126,780,000 in 2009.

The resultant load factor for the year was 71.2%, an increase of 3.2 pp over the 68.0% achieved in 2009. Passenger numbers rose slightly by 0.6% to 7,955,979 from 2009’s total of 7,905,580.
