International Airlines Group (IAG), parent company to British Airways, Iberia, Iberia Express, Aer Lingus and Vueling, has announced that Keith Williams will be retiring as executive chairman of British Airways in April 2016 and that Alex Cruz, currently chairman and chief executive officer of Vueling, will be replacing him.
Cruz has been a low-fare airline CEO since helping to found Clickair in 2006. He became CEO of Vueling when Clickair and Vueling merged in 2009 to form a single carrier under the latter brand name.
IAG will announce Cruz’s successor at Vueling in due course.
