Communication Software (Commsoft) has launched a mobile app as part of the company’s broader aim to future-proof its Open Aviation Strategic Engineering System (OASES) MRO IT solution.“The new OASES mobile app has been developed for specific functionality where mobility is required or desirable. This is the first of a series of specific OASES apps which will bring maximum benefit to Commsoft’s growing international customer base,” commented Commsoft’s managing director, Nick Godwin. “We are currently planning the development of further apps for use on the hangar floor, in warehouses and for line maintenance.”The OASES mobile app is device-independent as a result of developers using HTML5. This enables companies to access the software from any device with a built-in browser, such as mobile devices, tablets, laptops and desktop PCs.To access the app, users enter a supplied URL into the browser which takes them to the OASES login page using the same account as the main OASES system. No additional set-up is required.Designed to be used in the field by pilots and line maintenance engineers, the application allows access to the next due forecast. This data is taken from the OASES cached forecast which can be refreshed at any interval, allowing for a real-time view of maintenance data from anywhere in the world. The OASES mobile app can also restrict access to aircraft to specified users, making the app suitable for third party customers or contractor employees where limited access to specific aircraft data is necessary. To support its OASES customers, Commsoft offers a maintenance and support package, which includes a dedicated helpdesk with online support, user groups, and special services for product updates and software revisions.Commsoft currently services 90 international customers, supporting over 650 aircraft covering 45 aircraft types.
