SkyWest, Inc. has released the combined traffic figures for its two airline subsidiaries, SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) during March 2010 and the first quarter of the year.
SkyWest reported a 16.8% increase in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) to 1,634,668,333 from 1,399,680,581 for March, while available seat miles (ASMs) increased 11.9% to 2,017,662,946 from 1,802,889,960 compared to the same period last year.
The load factor was up 3.4 percentage points to 81.0% compared to 77.6% for the same period last year. Passenger boardings for March totalled 3,292,598, a 17.7% increase from March 2009’s 2,797,007.
For the first quarter (1Q10) RPMs generated stood at 4,348,176,333, 13.0% up on 1Q09’s figure of 3,849,527,124. ASMs were increased 9.9% to 5,640,970,486 from 5,134,722,778.
These figures led to a 2.1 pp load factor increase to 77.1% from 75.0% in 1Q09. The number of passengers carried in 1Q10 was 8,717,803, compared with 7,633,909 in 1Q09, a 14.2% increase.
