SkyWest, Inc. has announced combined July 2016 traffic figures for its wholly owned subsidiary airlines, SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines.
The company generated 2,532,718,823 revenue passenger miles (RPMs), a decrease of 7.3% from the 2,733,451,136 generated in July 2015. Available seat miles were cut by 6.9% to 2,988,902,626 from 3,210,506,489 last July.
The load factor thus fell by 0.4 percentage points to 84.7% from last July’s 85.1%. The two airlines carried 4,886,522 passengers in July 2016, compared with 5,182,756 carried in the same month last year, which was a decrease of 5.7%.
The company reported 169,513 block hours in July 2016, compared to 183,039 block hours in July 2015, a decrease of 7.4%. The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest’s fleet transition plan to improve the mix of aircraft in its fleet by adding new Embraer 175s, while reducing its 50-seat jets.
