As of 1 October, 2015, Colin Child will act as fastjet’s non-executive chairman.
Child will replace Clive Carver, who has acted as interim non-executive chairman since 1 April this year, but who, on 1 October, 2015, will revert to his previous role as non-executive director.
Ed Winter, CEO of fastjet, remarked, “Colin brings with him valuable and highly relevant experience to fastjet which will enable him to make a significant contribution to the board and the strategic direction of the business. On behalf of the entire board, I would like to thank Clive Carver for providing invaluable guidance and support to the company while acting as interim chairman.”
Child, a chartered accountant, has more than 20 years’ experience as a director of listed companies including, most recently, as group finance director of De La Rue Plc from 2010 to July 2015. He was also a non-executive director at Rank Group Plc from 2011 to March 2014 as well as chairman of both the audit and nominations committees and senior independent director.
“I am delighted to be joining the fastjet board,” averred Child. “With a growing fleet and developing route network, this is an exciting time in the company’s development and I look forward to working with Ed and the rest of the board as the company expands across Africa and pursues its strategic goals.”
