Pinnacle Airlines Corporation has released capacity and operational results for its Colgan Air subsidiary for March 2010 and the first quarter of the calendar year.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) were up 4.2% at 54,186,000 compared with March 2009’s 51,986,000. With a capacity cut in available seat miles (ASMs) of 2.0% at 89,497,000 from 91,352,000 a year previously, the resultant load factor for the month was 60.5%, a rise of 3.6 percentage points from last March’s 56.9%. The airline carried 222,072 passengers in March, 1.1% less than the 224,649 carried in the same month last year.
In the first quarter of 2010 (1Q10), RPMs rose by 1.0% to 133,600,000 from 132,309,000 in 1Q09, while ASMs fell 7.6% to 240,660,000 from 260,487,000. The load factor of 55.5% for 1Q10 was therefore 4.7 percentage points up on 1Q09’s 50.8%.
Passengers carried in 1Q10 numbered 554,979, compared with 576,553 in 1Q09, a 3.7% decrease.
