Cimber Sterling says it is the first airline company in Denmark to offer its customers maximum consumer protection under the new Travel Guarantee Fund Act, which serves to protect the rights of travel consumers.
As of 1 January 2010, it has become a legal requirement that consumers who buy airline tickets in Denmark for flights departing from Denmark must be offered cover against the travel provider going bankrupt or encountering general financial difficulties.
To date Cimber Sterling is the only airline company in Denmark that is offering this high-level, ultimate consumer protection directly on its website for customers who book online.
Bjarne Rasmussen, Cimber Sterling’s director sales and marketing, explains, "We at Cimber Sterling are proud that as of the start of this year we are compliant with all the new legal requirements relating to the new expanded guarantee scheme. This means that consumers who wish to arrange their holiday for themselves and book flights, hotel and car on the internet will now have essentially the same guarantee of security as was previously reserved for those buying package deals. It is reassuring to know that we are now one of the airline companies in Denmark offering the very best consumer protection."
The offer of bankruptcy cover only applies to private travellers, is optional and costs DKK 20.00 per passenger. This amount is stipulated by law and goes 100% to the Travel Guarantee Fund.
