China’s Chengdu Airlines has taken delivery of its fifth ARJ21-700 regional jet, with the aircraft delivered in a 90-seat all-economy configuration.

The aircraft, registered B-3388, was handed over on 29 April. Chengdu’s ARJ21 passenger fleet has now carried over 65,000 passengers and clocked up more than 2,600 flight hours.

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC)’s ARJ21 was certified for mass production mid-2017, and has a flight range of up to 3,700km. A total of 453 have so far been ordered.

Chengdu Airlines originally ordered 30 of the regional jets. The airline has been using two ARJ21s for commercial operations since mid-2016 on point-to-point city routes within China from Chengdu to destinations including Shanghai, Changsha, Jinan and Hefei, adding its third and fourth aircraft to its fleet last year.
