Cathay Pacific Airways Limited has confirmed that it is in active discussions regarding an acquisition involving Hong Kong Express Airways.
The company was responding to media reports suggesting Cathay Pacific Airways may be discussing acquiring shares in Hong Kong Airlines and the low-fare carrier Hong Kong Express (HKE) from HNA Group.
In a statement addressing the reports, Cathay Pacific said: “The Company hereby confirms that the Company is in active discussions about an acquisition involving HKE. No agreement for the acquisition has been entered into and there can be no certainty that any agreement will be entered into.”
