bmi regional has announced that from Friday 15 April it will fly to Munich 12 times a week from Southampton Airport.
According to bmi regional, the service will open up “a convenient, great value and reliable way for passengers from the south and south east to easily reach Germany”. Onward connections from Munich with bmi regional, mean travellers reach other European cities such as Brno (Czech Republic) and Bern (Switzerland), each time flying with the UK-based carrier.
Jochen Schnadt, bmi regional’s chief commercial officer remarked, “We’re excited to be adding Southampton as a new destination to our ever growing network connecting it to our developing Munich hub. This new service will further improve bmi regional’s presence in the South and South East of England. The addition of the connectivity from Munich into other European cities will certainly add to our appeal for our guests.”
Dave Lees, Southampton Airport’s managing director added, “Scheduled air services to Munich have been requested by many businesses, so this is great news. Key industries that have links in our two regions include aerospace, advanced engineering and IT. There is also substantial demand from the German market for cruises leaving the Port of Southampton, so these air links will be popular. We look forward to welcoming bmi regional to Southampton Airport in the spring.”
The new route launches from Friday 15 April with 12 flights per week, operating double daily between Monday and Friday and offering one flight per day on Saturdays and Sundays.
