Blue1 has chosen the Boeing 717-200 as the backbone of its fleet for immediate years ahead.
As a part of the company’s business model change, Blue1 is restructuring its route network and concentrating even more on the Finnish business traveller. More destinations and more frequencies to existing destinations such as London Heathrow, Brussels and Zürich are planned.
“The Boeing 717-200 is an ideal solution for Blue1. The seating capacity is 120 which corresponds to the market demand and gives us the opportunity to increase the number of frequencies out of Helsinki,” remarked Stefan Wentjärvi, the airline’s president & CEO. “The first 717 will enter the fleet by the end of the summer and Blue1 will operate nine Boeing 717s until the Summer 2011 programme.”
With the 717, the airline will change its livery. The new livery, “Flowing”, is described as representing the identity of Blue1 – a “young passionate challenger who believes in courage and new solutions for the business traveller”.
