British Airways is to launch a new route between Aberdeen and London City Airport in September with three return flights a day using its Embraer E-Jets.
Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer commercial manager, commented, “Our direct flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow to London City are extremely popular with Scottish customers who want to want fly straight to the heart of the City, for both business or leisure. We are delighted to be adding flights from Aberdeen linking Europe’s oil capital with the UK’s financial and business hub.
“It reflects the strength of the economy in Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland,” Hayhoe continued. “Aberdeen has been an important part of the British Airways network for many years and continues to be so. This new route complements the existing Aberdeen to Heathrow service [British Airways currently operates seven return flights a day between Aberdeen and Heathrow], giving our customers greater choice and additional frequency when travelling between these two great wealth generating cities.”
Declan Collier, chief executive of London City Airport commented, “The launch of the Aberdeen route is great news for business travelers using London City Airport and complements the Scottish destinations that LCY already serves.”
