GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has announced delivery to Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras of a new Airbus A320neo powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, the first of eight of the type which the airline will take on lease from GECAS by the end of 2019.
“This is a very special moment for us to receive our first Airbus, and we are very happy it’s from GECAS, which has been a long-term partner of Azul,” remarked David Neeleman, CEO of Azul.
“Our partnership with Azul is very important to GECAS,” responded Alec Burger, president and CEO of GECAS. “We are extremely proud to be a part of the next phase of Azul’s development with the delivery of this A320neo powered by state-of-the-art CFM LEAP engines.” All eight aircraft are part of GECAS’s existing orderbook with Airbus.
Azul currently operates a fleet of about 120 aircraft to more than 100 destinations.
