Russian carrier Azimuth Airlines has had its first C-check carried out on a Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) aircraft by S7 Technics.

The airline, based at Platov Airport and which mostly serves southern Russia, had the first heavy maintenance check by the supplier carried out at S7 Technics Holding’s base at Domodedovo Airport in Russia, with the aircraft redelivered to the operator earlier this month. The check included a large number of labour-intensive service bulletins issued by the aircraft’s manufacturer Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC).

“With each check completed on SSJ-100s, S7 Technics’ technical staff build up more and more experience, while performing very complicated modifications on this type,” said Nikita Belykh, sales director. “We consistently expand our capabilities in airframe and component maintenance for the SSJ-100, and we keep building up the volumes and complexity of our works, confirming the leading role of S7 Technics Holding among SSJ-100 maintenance providers.”

S7 Technics Holding has been active in the MRO market for SCAC-produced aircraft since February 2016. The C-check on Azimuth Airlines’ SSJ 100 was the ninth heavy maintenance check on the type for the provider. The airline’s fleet consists of the long-range version of the aircraft, the SSJ-100-95LR, delivered under contract with the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC).

S7 Technics added that in the last two years SSJ-100 operators including Gazprom Avia, IrAero Airlines, Yamal Air Transport Company and Russia’s EMERCOM have used its stations in Domodedovo and Mineralnye Vody for their maintenance needs. The company is comprised of two MRO subsidiaries: S7 Engineering and Sibir Technics.

Latest SSJ-100 delivered to Azimuth

Azimuth also recently received its latest SSJ-100 from STLC, with SCAC’s president, Alexander Rubtsov, saying: “Our commitments regarding the agreement with the STLC and Azimuth has been fulfilled according to the scheduled plan. The collaboration experience we have achieved, especially under the circumstances of a brand-new air carrier to the market, the fleet consisting of our planes exclusively, allows us to count on further effective co-operation for the benefit of regional airline passenger service development, amongst others.”

Since the start of operations in September last year there have been 182,663 passengers carried by the airline, with a total of 5,098 flight hours clocked up. The route network of the airline connects the cities of the North Caucasian and Southern Federal districts with each other and other regions of Russia directly.
