Avianca Brasil and Lufthansa Technik AG have signed a comprehensive Total Component Support (TCS) contract covering the repair and overhaul of components for the airline’s fleet of A320 family aircraft and A330 long-haul jets.

Component support of the Airbus fleet will be ensured through a home base stock to be established in São Paulo, Brazil.

The company will also support the airline in building-up in-house capabilities, such as for the maintenance and repair of A320 emergency slides and other safety equipment. Lufthansa Technik will also oversee the production of the Airbus A320neo aircraft Avianca Brasil has on order with it’s Aircraft Production Inspection Programme.

“With Lufthansa Technik we have secured the support of a global player in technical aircraft services, whose experience and reliability we highly value. Lufthansa Technik is also the best partner for our new A320neo fleet,” said Frederico Pedreira, chief executive officer from Avianca Brasil.

Frank Berweger, vice-president sales Americas from Lufthansa Technik, said the contract is a “big success” for the company “in the highly competitive South American market.”
