American Eagle December and full 2010 traffic announced

American Eagle Airlines has reported December and full 2010 traffic for itself and its wholly-owned subsidiary Executive Airlines.

In December, American Eagle generated 697,802,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) compared with 581,721,000 in December 2009, a 20.0% increase. Available seat miles (ASMs) were increased by 18.1% to 948,191,000 from 802,558,000.

These figures created a load factor increase of 1.1 percentage points, December 2010’s figure standing at 73.6% compared with 72.5% in December 2009. During the month, the carrier transported 1,340,345 passengers, 3.4% more than the 1,296,631 passengers carried in December 2009.

Over the whole of 2010, Eagle recorded 7,985,380,000 RPMs, an 11.8% increase on 2009’s RPM figure of 7,145,628,000. ASMs rose by 10.1% year-over-year to 10,802,245,000 from 9,809,580,000.

The load factor for the year was 73.9%, a 1.1 pp increase over 2009’s figure of 72.8%. Over the year Eagle carried 16,246,141 passengers compared with 16,012,967 the year before, a 1.5% increase.

For Executive Airlines in December, RPMs totalled 48,125,000, a 6.2% increase on the previous December’s 45,315,000. ASMs were increased by just 3.2% to 83,138,000 from 80,529,000 for the respective periods.

The load factor thus increased by 1.6 pp to 57.9% in December 2010 compared with 56.3% in December 2009. The airline carried 241,715 passengers during the month compared with 230,774, a 4.7% increase.

Over the complete year, Executive recorded 530,774,000 RPMs in 2010 versus 544,762,000 in 2009, a 2.6% decrease. ASMs rose by just 0.2% to 949,069,000 from 947,616,000.

As a result of these figures, the load factor fell in 2010 by 1.6 pp to 55.9% from 57.5% in 2009. Passengers carried in 2010 totalled 2,790,065, 2.0% more than the 2,735,927 carried in 2009.
