Allegiant Travel Company has appointed John Redmond, who has served for eight years as a member of Allegiant’s board of directors, as its new president.
Redmond, who has previously worked as CEO of MGM Grand Resorts and has more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality and leisure travel industry, will assume his new role from 12 September 2016.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join this terrific team full-time and to be a part of building an exciting future,” stated Redmond. “Allegiant has been incredibly effective at disrupting the typical airline business model and staying laser-focused on the needs of the leisure traveller in a way that other companies have missed.”
Reporting to Allegiant’s chairman and CEO, Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., Redmond will lead the senior executive team including CFO Scott Sheldon, COO Jude Bricker, and CIO Scott Allard. He will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors.
“John Redmond brings unparalleled experience in the travel and hospitality industry with some of the world’s most successful companies – and he knows Allegiant well,” remarked Gallagher, Jr. “John is the ideal leader to build on our strengths and take the company to new heights of operational excellence, as an innovator in leisure travel.”
