Alaska Air Group has announced its regional traffic figures for March 2016 and first quarter (1Q16) covering flights operated by its subsidiary Horizon Air and third-party regional carriers SkyWest Airlines and PenAir.
In March, the airlines generated 320 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) compared with 265 million in March 2015, a 20.8% increase. Available seat miles (ASM) totalled 396 million, up 23% over March 2015’s figure of 322 million.
The load factor in March was 80.8%, a drop of 1.4 percentage points from the 82.2% achieved last March. The rounded figure for revenue passengers carried in March was 802,000 compared with 757,000 in the same month last year, a 5.9% increase.
In 1Q16, RPMs totalled 855 million, up 17.4% over 1Q15’s 728 million, while ASMs were increased by 20.9% to 1,100 million from 1Q15’s 910 million. The 1Q16 load factor thus fell by 2.3 pp to 77.7% from 1Q15’s 80.0%. Revenue passengers carried, in rounded figures, rose by 5.4% in 1Q16 to 2,192,000 from 2,080,000 in 1 Q15.
