Alaska Air Group has reported June and half-year (1H16) operational results for its regional flying operated by subsidiary Horizon Air and third-party carriers, SkyWest Airlines and PenAir.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased by 19.3% in June to 327 million from 274 million in June 2015. Available seat miles (ASMs) totalled 403 million, compared with 330 million last June, an increase of 22.1%.
The load factor thus decreased by 1.9 percentage points to 81.1% from 83.0%. The rounded figure for revenue passengers carried in June 2016 was 836,000 which was 6.5% more than the 785,000 carried last June.
In the first half of this year (1H16), RPMs totalled 1,796 million, up 18.4% from 1,517 million in 1H15. ASMs for 1H16, however, were increased by 21.9% to 2,287 million from 1,876 million. Consequently the load factor fell by 2.4 pp to 78.5% from 80.9% for the respective periods.
Revenue passengers carried in 1H16 (again in rounded figures) numbered 4,558,000, compared with 4,317,000 in 1H15, a 5.6% increase.
