VivaColombia, which was established in association with Irelandia, IAMSA, Colombian Group Bolivar and Grupo FAST, has chosen AJ Walter Aviation to provide power-by-the-hour-type component support.
Starting with three Airbus A320s, VivaColombia expects the fleet to grow to five aircraft within 12 months. Based at Medellin, the airline is initially flying to the popular destinations of Bogota and Cartagena, with other domestic routes quickly following.
On the support deal, Fred Jacobsen, president of VivaColombia, commented, “We have been impressed by the support that AJ Walter Aviation has provided to our colleagues at VivaAerobus in Mexico for the past 18 months. Their valuable experience will provide the perfect level of service for our start-up; we can rely on them to ensure the punctuality and performance of our airline fleet.”
AJW will support these aircraft from its Miami-based operation which comprises service-ready Airbus component inventories, plus a Main Base Kit located in Medellin.
“We are stepping up our activities in North America and already support several airlines with lease, pooling and PBH solutions,” remarked Boris Wolstenholme, chief executive of AJ Walter Aviation. “We are delighted to be supporting VivaColombia in its plans to vigorously develop a low-cost route network and we will do everything we can to help the airline meet its objectives.”
