AirTran Airways has begun daily nonstop service from Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to both Orlando International and Baltimore/Washington airports.
"AirTran Airways is excited to bring our service to Grand Rapids," remarked Kevin Healy, senior vice-president of marketing and planning for AirTran Airways. "We have been working with the Western Michigan business community for a long time to bring this service to Grand Rapids and look forward to a long, successful partnership."
Nonstop flights from Grand Rapids to Orlando depart at 12:54, arriving at 15:33, with the return service leaving Orlando at 14:20 and getting to Grand Rapids at 17:10.
Between Grand Rapids and Baltimore/Washington, flights from the Michigan airport depart at 06:25 and 17:50, reaching BWI at 08:00 and 19:25 respectively. The return services leave Baltimore/Washington at 10:35 and 18:55, with respecvtive arrival times of 12:19 and 20:40.
In addition to these flights begun on 4 May, AirTran will also initiate weekend services between Grand Rapids and both Ft Myers and Tampa in June.
From 12 June, flights will leave Grand Rapids on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:45, to land in Ft Myers at 15:40 p.m. In the other direction, the flights will depart Ft Myers at 11:08 and arrive in Grand Rapids at 14:18.
Nonstop weekend flights between Grand Rapids and Tampa will also start on 12 June and will depart Grand Rapids at 14:53 and land in Tampa at 17:38. Flights from Tampa will depart at 13:59 and arrive in Grand Rapids at 16:54.
AirTran has also started twice daily service from Baltimore/Washington airport to Jacksonville International. "Passengers now have a choice when it comes to flying between these two great areas," said Tad Hutcheson, AirTran Airways’ vice-president of marketing and sales.
