AirTran Airways has announced plans to expand its service to Puerto Rico with twice daily flights from Tampa, FL.
The new flights, which will begin on 5 April 2011, join the carrier’s Caribbean schedule including flights to San Juan from Orlando.
“As a Florida-based airline and one that has been operating from Tampa since 1993, we are excited to announce this expanded service and believe the local business and leisure community will support and benefit greatly from quality low-fare competition on this route,” said Kevin Healy, AirTran’s senior vice-president of marketing and planning. "There are tremendous synergies between central Florida and Puerto Rico. San Juan is one of our most popular destinations from Orlando and we are confident it will be an extremely popular destination from Tampa as well.”
From Tampa, flights will depart daily at 07:30 and 15:24 landing in San Juan at 10:20 and 18:14 respectively. On the return legs, flights will take off from San Juan at 11:05 and 18:59 with respective arrival times of 14:10 and 22:04 (all times local).
