airberlin is to launch a new direct scheduled service from Guernsey to two major German cities, Düsseldorf and Hannover from April 2011.
The new route to Guernsey will be the airline’s second Channel Islands destination following the successful introduction of a Düsseldorf to Jersey flight. Passengers from Hannover will also have the option of flying to Jersey via Guernsey for the first time.
airberlin will offer its Channel Islands’ flights on Saturdays during its summer 2011 schedule from 16 April to the end of September. Flights will be operated with Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
Titus Johnson, airberlin UK & Ireland country manager, commented, “airberlin will be the only airline to service Germany with scheduled flights to and from Guernsey. It’s an exciting opportunity and one which will no doubt boost German tourism to the thriving Channel Island.”
