From 22 March 2016, AirAsia will operate a thrice service between Penang, Malaysia to Yangon, Myanmar marking the seventh international destination from the airline’s northern hub.
The flights will take off from Penang at 12:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays before arriving in Yangon at 12:45. The return leg will take place on the same days, departing Yangon at 13:10 and landing back in Penang at 17:00 (all local times).
“We are committed to grow our network and serve the ASEAN community better, apart from strengthening our secondary hubs in Malaysia. The introduction of this new route from Penang to another IndoChina city reiterates that commitment, as we will also be celebrating the inaugural flight from Penang to Ho Chi Minh City at the end of this month,” remarked Spencer Lee, AirAsia Berhad’s head of commercial.
“Yangon, which is Myanmar’s largest city, is becoming an increasingly popular leisure destination among travellers in the region. We are confident that the direct connectivity between both cities will stimulate leisure and business activities, as this will be Malaysia’s second direct flight into Yangon,” Spencer concludes.
Other international connectivity available directly from Penang include AirAsia flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Medan, Jakarta, Surabaya and Bangkok.
