From 24 January, 2016, AirAsia will operate four weekly flights between its newest international hub in Malaysia, Langkawi, and Guangzhou in China.The service will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The first leg will leave Langkawi at 01:30 to arrive in Guangzhou at 05:25, whilst the return service will take off from Guangzhou at 06:10 to reach Langkawi at 10:05 (all local times).Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Berhad, remarked, “After making Langkawi our next international hub back in March this year, we are very happy to finally realise our promise with this new direct route to Guangzhou, China from Langkawi. We have full confidence that this new direct route will boost traffic growth into Langkawi International Airport which currently only serves one international route to Singapore.“Langkawi receives over 3 million tourists annually and we look forward to contribute to the growth of the island and subsequently place it on the global map as one of the top international tourist destinations,” continued Aireen. The new direct Langkawi–Guangzhou flights mark the launch of AirAsia’s third unique direct route into China this year, after Changsha from Kuala Lumpur and Wuhan from Kota Kinabalu. AirAsia also operates flights from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore.
