AirAsia has installed Type22’s Scan&Fly self-service bag drop solution at Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with the aim of optimising space in the terminal and improving passenger flow throughout the airport.
With Scan&Fly, passengers can print their bag tags while performing self check-in at the kiosks and then drop their baggage at a Scan&Fly unit which will automatically check flight data, baggage weight and size allowances before securely depositing the bag into the baggage handling system.
“At AirAsia, we continuously work hard to make the check-in process as efficient and smooth as possible and provide a seamless travel experience for our guests,” remarked AirAsia Berhad’s CEO, Aireen Omar. “The average time needed to check-in at the airport counter including queuing time is about 5 minutes; but with the introduction of complete self-service options, including the self bag-drop feature, it takes only up to two minutes and 35 seconds on average to complete the whole check-in process.”
The installation of Scan&Fly makes Senai International Airport the first AirAsia hub that offers this service.
