AirAsia is extending its footprint from Kota Kinabalu to Hong Kong with direct daily flights set to begin on 1 June 2010.
AirAsia launched its first route connecting Hong Kong from Kuala Lumpur in 2008 with only one flight daily. Overwhelming demand led the airline to increase its frequency for this route to three flights daily within the span of two years. It now connects Hong Kong to Bangkok (two flights daily), Phuket (one flight daily) and Penang (four flights weekly). With the addition of Kota Kinabalu–Hong Kong (one flight daily), AirAsia’s total number of weekly flights to Hong Kong from its hubs will be 53.
