AirAsia has announced a new direct flight between Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Guangzhou in China, which is scheduled to begin on 29 May 2016.
The daily flights connecting the two cities will be the airline’s 17th route into China from Malaysia, and the second route into China launched this year after Shantou.
Spencer Lee, AirAsia Berhad’s head of commercial, remarked, “Our southern hub of Johor Bahru is one of the key development points for us this year, and we are pleased to be connecting the rapidly-developing Johor Bahru to Guangzhou through this unique route that will be operated exclusively by AirAsia. This will further increase our market share in Johor Bahru, and we look forward to working closely with all key industry players here to grow Johor Bahru together.”
The daily rotation will see flights leave Johor Bahru at 22:00 and land in Guangzhou at 02:00 the following day. Then, after a one hour turnaround, the return flight will set off from Guangzhou at 03:00 and get back to Johor Bahru at 06:50 (all times local).
