Aer Lingus Group has reported its traffic statistics for the month of March 2014.
Compared with the same month last year, March 2014 traffic was adversely affected by the timing of Easter which fell in March in 2013 but is in April for 2014.
The total traffic for the month, including Aer Lingus Regional scheduled flights, was down 5.6% to 797,000 passengers compared with 844,000 in March 2013. Short-haul passenger numbers decreased by 6.8% from 674,000 to 628,000, while long-haul passenger numbers were down 9.6% to 75,000 in March 2014.
The overall passenger load factor in March 2014 was 74.7% compared with 79.9% for the same month in 2013.
