Aegean Airlines has announced its flight schedule for 2015 which includes 16 new international destinations across ten new countries.
The airline’s 2015 schedule will offer 15,000,000 available seats, 2 million more than in 2014, across a total of 134 destinations and 42 countries. Aegean has significantly increased destinations and frequencies in tourist countries such as France, Italy, Switzerland, the UK and Germany, but highlights that its Middle Eastern and wider North and East African network (Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran) will also be enhanced.
Aegean’s new destinations for 2015 are Helsinki, Toulouse, Deauville, Metz, Naples, Pisa, Malta, Amsterdam, Kuwait, Paphos, Riyadh, Tallinn, Oslo, Tehran, Dubrovnik and Yerevan, which will be operated by the airline’s 56-strong aircraft fleet, including brand new Airbus A320ceos, ordered earlier this year.
Aegean has specifically focused on Athens for 2015, arguing that it needs enhancing to expand the tourist market in Athens and the Aegean islands. In this context, 15 new destinations and nine new countries were added to Athens network. Nonetheless, it is also increasing flights from its other seven bases; Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Chania, Kos, Larnaca and Kalamata.
“2015 is a milestone-year for Aegean. We are proceeding with the powerful enhancement of our Athens hub, but we are also supporting regional development through increased flights from our regional bases,” explained Aegean’s VP, Eftychios Vassilakis. “We continue to enhance our policy of supporting small islands, a policy that brought impressive results in 2014.”
Vassilakis continued, “We are renewing our commitment to the further development and diversification of our services [for the benefit] of our passengers. The new programme, ‘12 Months, 12 Good News For You,’ signals the quality of our commitment to innovation, special offers and services in 2015. The combination of growth and competitiveness, but also the further development of our services is a common challenge for our company and our country.”
Under the '12 Months, 12 Good News For You’ programme, Aegean plans to launch a new service during each month in 2015.
