AAR has sealed agreements to provide power-by-the-hour (PBH) support for Air New Zealand and Air Malta’s Airbus A320 aircraft.

The company has formed a long-term agreement to provide PBH support for Air New Zealand’s A320 fleet, covering 48 aircraft including 30 A320ceos and 18 A320neos. “We are very pleased to expand our relationship with Air New Zealand and extend our component support to their A320 fleet,” said AAR’s Deepak Sharma, president, Integrated Solutions – Commercial. “Our capabilities continue to expand to meet our customers’ evolving needs in our fast-changing industry.”

The companies say this marks an expansion of the existing relationship. In 2017 AAR designated Air New Zealand’s component centre as its Asia Pacific MRO of choice, and the pair successfully implemented a long-term repair contract. This new agreement also includes reciprocal repair work with Air New Zealand for the Asia-Pacific region.

AAR has also entered a multi-year Integrated Component Solutions agreement with Air Malta to provide full PBH support of its A320neo aircraft, the newest aircraft to join Air Malta’s fleet.

Air Malta will receive nose-to-tail ATA chapter coverage, including airframe, APU and engine line replaceable units (LRUs) with the provision of on-site inventory in Malta. The agreement expands on an existing relationship, with AAR currently supporting the airline’s most recently delivered A320ceo aircraft.

The company says this agreement also marks the latest expansion of AAR’s PBH footprint across Europe. AAR said it recently enhanced and centralised its global AOG and order fulfilment services by creating an International Operations Centre at London Gatwick.

Colin Craig, senior vice-president, business development, AAR Integrated Solutions-Commercial, said: “We look forward to continuing our support of Air Malta at a time of growth and expansion.”

“Over the last year, we have embarked on a growth strategy during which we have added 21 new destinations and two aircraft, including a brand-new Airbus A320neo,” explained Silvio Falzon, Air Malta chief operations officer. “In parallel to this, the airline embarked on a fleet rollover plan that will see us acquiring two brand-new Airbus A320neo next year. We are confident that through the support of AAR we will be in a better position to service our aircraft and our customers.”
