Aircalin has updated its Airbus A320-200 to feature Lufthansa Systems’ BoardConnect in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.
The Airbus A320 (which forms a third of Aircalin’s fleet – as of March 2014, the airline consisted of one Airbus A320-200 and two Airbus A330-200 aircraft) flies on routes between Aircalin’s base at La Tontouta International Airport in Nouméa to Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.
CEO of Aircalin Didier Tappero said, “We are proud to bring such brand new technology to our passengers on our short and medium-haul routes.”
The system allows passengers to stream a variety of IFE and ‘infotainment’ through their personal iOS, Android and Windows devices, including Windows 8 operating systems.
“Good in-flight entertainment, extensive infotainment and interaction opportunities during a flight are becoming increasingly important to passengers and are among the criteria for choosing a certain airline,” remarked Norbert Müller, senior VP of BoardConnect at Lufthansa Systems. “This makes us all the more delighted to work with Aircalin in order to offer these options to its passengers with BoardConnect.”
