In-flight entertainment and connectivity provider, Thales, has announced the launch of the Thales App Portal, dedicated to applications for the TopSeries AVANT system.
Available towards the end of this year, the Thales App Portal provides a web-based solution for matching existing consumer applications with the TopSeries AVANT system.Using the Google Android Marketplace it allows the user to review and purchase applications for their specific hardware system. The portal provides a new, flexible and secure way of managing application content.”The Thales App Portal is the first time a true link has been made between consumer designed and developed applications and the IFEC market,” explained Stuart Dunleavy, VP Marketing and Customer Propositions for Thales’ In-flight Entertainment and Connectivity business. “This innovation reflects the Thales open culture and partnership strategy and will enable access to thousands of potential application.”The portal is geared to two different audiences: Airlines and Software Developers.Thales claims that the portal will offer airlines content flexibility, lower cost, reduced time tomarket for new applications, and an enhanced passenger entertainment experience. ForDevelopers, they can gain access to a new market, increase brand exposure, and potential licensing revenue.
