STG Aerospace has been granted Design Organisation Approval (DOA) status by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
As part of the EASA audit that led to the granting of DOA status, STG was required to deliver a presentation on the company’s capabilities and procedures, undertake specific staff training and define a number of key internal roles and responsibilities. As a result, Sean O’Kell, the company’s director of innovation, now also has the official title of head of design; and certification manager Dale Williams is now also chief of the office of airworthiness.
The new DOA complements STG’s existing EASA Production Organisation Approval EASA.UK.21G.2540 by allowing the company to able to develop, produce and certify all new products within the company.
O’Kell averred, “This is excellent news for STG Aerospace, the DOA will extend our capability and simplify the route for certification approval. Historically we have always had to use external DOA’s to complete the certification process on our behalf but having DOA status will significantly extend our capabilities, reduce timescales and streamline the product development process.”
