Following the recent opening of its new facility adjacent to Miami International Airport, STG Aerospace has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the FAA to install its liTeMood LED cabin lighting system on Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.
This milestone was achieved following Miami Air International’s decision to retrofit liTeMood on its 737-800s.
“This is major step forward for STG Aerospace. Whilst liTeMood has been successfully installed on many airlines in Europe and Latin America, the Miami Air installation is our first US award and validates our installation benefits and customer value with a noteworthy US operator,” stated Marcus Williams, STG Aerospace’s director of global sales. “Having now secured an FAA STC for the Boeing 737NG, we look forward to bringing the benefits of a liTeMood solution to other airlines in the US and throughout the Americas.”
Jim Proia, Miami Air International’s CEO, said, “The many operational benefits of liTeMood were immediately obvious to us, including the significant weight reduction and increased reliability, but the simplicity and speed of the installation was particularly impressive. Without having to make any aircraft-side changes, we have dramatically improved cabin appearance, creating an enhanced on-board experience for our guests.”
STG will now continue with its strategic plan to certify liTeMood for global coverage.
