The Indian low-fare airline SpiceJet has launched its new in-flight entertainment (IFE) system SpicEngage on-board all domestic and international flights.
Revealing the details in a series of tweets by head of communications, Tushar Srivastava, the airline revealed passengers can now use their own phones and tablets on-board SpiceJet flights to watch shows, play games and more.
The carrier said it is the first and only Indian low-cost airline to introduce complimentary in-flight entertainment, with Ajay Singh CMD for SpiceJet commenting: “I am excited to announce the launch of our new in-flight entertainment system SpicEngage, which will vastly improve the on-board experience of our flyers.”
The follows the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) last spring with Lufthansa Systems to equip SpiceJet’s fleet with the BoardConnect Portable, to allow SpiceJet passengers to shop, stream movies and shows and other content from platforms offered by the airline.
Responding to questions on Twitter, Srivastava confirmed the IFE would be available on both the Bombardier Q400 aircraft and the Boeing 737 jets.
