Row 44 has partnered with interactive media and Internet company, MLB Advanced Media, to deliver live streaming video and audio broadcasts of Major League Baseball in-flight to passengers using Wi-Fi enabled devices such as smart phones, laptops and tablets.
Following the launch, Row 44 claims that its broadband entertainment platform will offer passengers on commercial airlines the only flying experience that includes live Major League Baseball games on Wi-Fi enabled devices. Passengers will also be able to use their own devices to listen to every game’s radio broadcast and hear each club’s regular announcers.
"Major League Baseball is such a part of the fabric of America — and has always been more than a professional sports organisation," commented Chief Commercial Officer of Row 44, Howard Lefkowitz. "It is an honour that they’ve chosen to undertake this innovation with Row 44 — becoming the first sports league to offer in-flight live streaming video of its games.”
CEO of Major League Baseball Advanced Media, Bob Bowman stated, "The integration of live baseball games into Row 44’s in-flight broadband entertainment experience ensures our travelling fans won’t have to miss a pitch. Our partnership with Row 44 is reflective of a continued commitment to finding innovative ways to serve the millions of baseball fans seeking to connect with their favourite teams on their own personal devices, no matter where they happen to be."
