Rockwell Collins has reached an agreement with OSN, a specialist in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) entertainment content, to enable live high-definition and high-compression video (MPEG-4) programming on the Tailwind 500 and 550 TV systems.
Rockwell Collins’ Tailwind is a fully integrated multi-region in-flight Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) cabin TV system for business jets, delivering live DBS programming from Ku-band subscription-based and free-to-air TV providers.
OSN offers a choice of new premium Western, Arabic and Filipino entertainment in the MENA region with access to the latest blockbuster movies, top-rated series, sports, documentaries, news, kids entertainment and live talk shows.
Current Tailwind operators that subscribe to OSN programming will require a hardware update, which is expected to be available in early 2014.
