PARIS 2015: Cobham granted new STCs for AVIATOR solutions

Cobham SATCOM (Cobham) has received Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) allowing for the installation of its AVIATOR SwiftBroadband solutions on-board Embraer Legacy 600 and 650 executive jets as well as Airbus A319 aircraft.The STC for the Embraer jets concerns Cobham's AVIATOR SP (Special Purpose) system for multi-channel SwiftBroadband, which includes the SDU-7330-00X (Satellite Data Unit). The STC for Airbus A319s involves Cobham’s HGA-7001 high gain antenna, which can provide either single channel or multi-channel SwiftBroadband.Kim Gram, VP aeronautical, Cobham SATCOM, said, “We are pleased to continue developing STCs for installation on a growing number of airframes, enabling more users to take advantage of modern in-flight communications with the use of smart phones, personal tablets and laptops for a multitude of applications during all phases of flight.”The STCs were developed in conjunction with 328design and Alamo.Cobham's AVIATOR systems have also been certified for several key aircraft including the Boeing 757, Citation X, G200, Embraer 135 and Bombardier Challenger 300. The company's AVIATOR 200 SwiftBroadband solution (pictured) as an STC from the European Aviation Safety Agency for Pilatus PC-12 aircraft and an STC from the Federal Aviation Administration for King Air models.
