Panasonic Avionics (Panasonic) has revealed a new template for the interface of its X series in-flight entertainment (IFE) system, which was designed by its partner BMW DesignworksUSA.
BMW DesignworksUSA used Panasonic’s eXcite2 interactive creation tool to create a templatewhich offers an IFE system that can be customised with any airline’s unique branding and content. This meant the challenge for DesignworksUSA was to create a template flexible enough to work within varied airline environments, allowing the manufacturer to customise the service experience to increase ancillary revenue services with advertising, food and beverages and duty free shopping.
Laurenz Schaffer, President of BMW DesignworksUSA, commented, “DesignworksUSA’s deep knowledge in interface design and branding helped contribute to the successful collaboration with Panasonic Avionics. We understood how to create a system that maximizes individualised application for different airlines while emphasising each airline’s unique brand attributes.”
The interface was unveiled at the APEX EXPO in Anaheim, USA.
