Flight Display Systems has released a free configuration tool for its Flight Display Moving Map. The new tool enables users to customise welcome aboard screens, company logos, high-quality aircraft icons, GPS waypoints, in-flight data pages, Mecca pointers and world clocks.
Earlier this month the Alpharetta, Georgia-based retrofit cabin entertainment specialist unveiled a combination 32-inch high-definition LCD and low profile motorised lift. The 1080-pixel LCD measures only 23 inches high in the stowed position.
"The screen was so big that it looked like a drive-in movie," says Kevin Iocovozzi, Gulfstream programme manager for Flight Display Systems, who was on board for delivery with the G550 launch customer. "The principal could not wait to lower all the windows in the cabin and start watching his movie. He loved it."
Gulfstream Appleton, which carried out the installation, says other Gulfstream models will support a similar installation in a standard cabin credenza. Flight Display Systems is also proposing the FD320LIFT-LP as a retrofit product for installation in other business aircraft, including the Bombardier Challenger and Global Express and the Embraer Lineage.
