Italian airline Neos will soon be able to provide individual content for passengers from different tour operators via the wireless BoardConnect infotainment system from Lufthansa Systems.
The wireless BoardConnect IFE solution enables passengers to access a wide range of entertainment content during a flight, including movies, TV shows, music and games, by connecting to a Wi-Fi network through an app on their own tablets or smartphones. The system also includes a shop and a moving map with points of interest (POI) relating to various subjects.
“We were won over by the system’s reliability and 100% in-flight availability. With BoardConnect we can offer our passengers exactly the kind of modern in-flight entertainment that matches our brand,” said Carlo Stradiotti, CEO of Neos.
Charter flight passengers will also be able to receive additional content such as information on the destination or the company organising the charter flight.BoardConnect will initially be installed in the three Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in the Neos fleet. No timetable has yet been confirmed for the deployment across its six Boeing 737-800W aircraft.
The two companies recently signed a five-year contract which also covers additional certification regarding the extended functionalities of the IFE system by Lufthansa Technik.
