Airbus has completed the acquisition of Navtech, a global provider of flight operations solutions. This follows the agreement announced in December 2015 to acquire the company.
Navtech serves more than 400 aircraft operators and aviation services customers worldwide with a suite of flight ops products, including electronic flight bag (EFB) solutions, aeronautical charts, navigation data solutions, flight planning, aircraft performance, and crew planning solutions.Mike Hulley, the current leader of the company worldwide has been confirmed as chief executive officer of Navtech.Didier Lux, head of Airbus Customer Services said, “This acquisition will enable us to diversify our range of digital services and widen our portfolio offering for customers, positioning Airbus as a complete flight operations solutions provider.” He added, “Airbus remains committed to the rich heritage of philosophy and values of Navtech and will work closely alongside its employees to preserve the special customer appeal that the business has successfully developed over its history.”Alain Mallart, chairman of Externalis, a shareholder of Navtech, commented, "Over the years, Navtech has established a strong position in the aeronautical marketplace. Joining Airbus will facilitate its further growth while enhancing Airbus services."Laurent Martinez, Airbus’ senior vice president of Services said, “Connecting Navtech’s experience with the ‘Services by Airbus’ network will enable us to be more innovative, diversifying our range of services and flight operations solutions, while providing our customers with greater flexibility.”
