Gothenburg-based ArrivalGuides, the world’s largest distributor of destination content, has been acquired by Lonely Planet.

With 625 destination guides, more than 56,000 POIs in multiple languages and more than 500 officially supplied destination videos, the ArrivalGuides destination content library comes directly from travel experts, tourism bureaus and DMOs around the world. All content is then screened and curated by the in-house team of destination editors and travel experts.

“We are pleased to offer all the advantages of ArrivalGuides to our suite of opportunities for our partners,” said Lonely Planet’s new CEO Luis Cabrera. “ArrivalGuides’ model and established channel will allow us to explore more aggressively and creatively our B2B strategy and partner with companies in new ways. This is a perfect outlet for our expert content” said Cabrera.

Magnus Aideborn, founder and CEO of ArrivalGuides added: “The core and main purpose of ArrivalGuides has always been to deliver the best content in the industry. Along with Lonely Planet’s passion and authority, we seek to enable and inform more authentic, exciting and unique travel experiences.”

ArrivalGuides recently partnered with global rewards and engagement provider, The ENTERTAINER, to integrate premium destination content into various applications offered to their clients, including Emirates’ innovative mobile travel applications Emirates Skywards GO.

In 2017, Air Dolomiti began offering ArrivalGuides destination guides onboard. Iberia and Romania’s TAROM also carry destination content as part of their IFE library following the 2016 signing of a strategic partnership between PXCom and ArrivalGuides.
